Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh)
Under opposition attack for his frequent foreign trips, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today found unexpected support from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
“People are saying that the Prime Minister is going abroad. It is good for the country as it is bringing investments,” Yadav told newspersons here.
“Everyone wants investment, be it in the country or in the state,” Yadav, who had himself been on a foreign trip recently, stressed.
The Chief Minister said people of the country are looking forward with hope towards the central government for basic facilities.
On losses suffered by state’s farmers due to untimely rains and hailstorm, Yadav said his government was providing maximum help and compensation to them.
Claiming that so far the state has not got any help from the central government, he said more help will be extended when the centre provided its share.
Taking strong exception to illegal mining on the banks of river Yamuna, the Chief Minister ordered probe and warned stern action against the guilty.
He also gave an assurance that a new bridge will be constructed at Kishunpur on Yamuna bank.
