Heavy rain in Ahmedabad city for hours

After long wait, the city of Ahmedabad today received heavy rain post 3.00 pm. The rain continued till at last 8.00 pm in full force with brief slow down in some areas. As per an estimate the rainfall experienced today could be in range of 5-6 inch.
City’s Kubernagar under bridge was closed for traffic following water logging. Mithakhali under bridge was closed for traffic due to cave in and not water logging.
Nearly 5,000 cusec water is being released from river Sabaramati through Vasna barrage.
Traffic jam situation has been reported from across the city including CG Road, SG Highway and other major road stretches in the evening. Due to heavy downpour low lying areas of city have witnessed water logging again.
District Collector has ordered leave in all primary-higher secondary schools in Ahmedabad city and district tomorrow.
