Local taxi service introduced in Ahmedabad with 20 cars on road

Minister Vijay Rupani today flagged off 20 taxis in Ahmedabad which will serve passengers for travel within city and also between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
Cars for taxi service are allotted to rickshaw drivers as part of exchange offer by Kataria Motors.
According to Transport Commissioner Kamal Dayani, these taxis will have government approved fare, GPS system which shall be eventually linked to police control room and other facilities.
It should be mentioned that the city of Ahmedabad lacks Mumbai like taxi system. This is government’s attempt to introduce taxi system which is safer, government monitored and offers more facilities.
Rickshaw Association head also attended the function. Each taxi will carry maximum four passengers.
