Gujarat govt hands over Chandola lake to AMC

Gujarat government has taken a decision to hand over the charge of Chandola lake in Ahmedabad to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) for its development on Kankaria lake front model.
Chandola lake is important water body for recharge of ground water. It was maintained by the department of irrigation, government of Gujarat until now.
Some of the development works planned at Chandola lake site include increased safety of road located next to the lake, widening of the road, road-side parking facility etc.
The Chief Minister has taken a decision to hand over Chandola lake to AMC in response to demands made by local people regarding development of this water body.
