Following a centuries old tradition, women in Vithon village near Nakhatrana town in Kutch district of Gujarat poured water on elders seeking rain on Ashadhi bij day.
As per tradition, elders in village sit on chairs in row and women pour water filled in pot on their heads speedily. A group of women first visit Samadhi Mandir of sant Khetabapa and wash his ‘charan padukas’. The rest of the water is brought in pots to chowk in procession style. It is poured on elders.
Kutch district of Gujarat is suffering from water scarcity due to delayed rain. Only 10% sowing has completed so far in this border district even after 18 days of July.
