Police grants permission for Patidar public meet on GMDC ground in Ahmedabad

Patidar outfit’s 25 August public meeting in Ahmedabad will be organized at GMDC ground in university area. Permission for parking has been given on Sabarmati riverfront near Vallabh Sadan by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC).

This decision was taken in a meeting held today afternoon between the organizers, police officers and AMC officials. Dinesh Patel of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti who was part of this meeting shared these details with media persons. Patidar organization was earlier adamant on holding the rally at riverfront, even after the AMC refused their proposal citing the reason that there’s a pre-decided policy that riverfront would not be given for public rallies and agitations.

When asked how Patidars will travel from Vallabh Sadan to GMDC ground, as distance between two places is long, Dinesh Patel in his reply said that Patidars would march to GMDC ground. However city police sources clarified that permission for march has not been granted. Dinesh Patel said, Patidar outfit would announce its programme in press conference on Friday.

Primarily the permission has been granted for assembly of 3 lakh persons, however police officer Vikas Sahay said that police was ready to manage the crowd greater than this figure.
