Written invitation to anamat agitation leader and others for talks : Nitin Patel

Ahmedabad

Gujarat government has tendered written invitation to Hardik Patel, the convener of Patidar Ananmat Aandolan Samiti and the main face of its ongoing agitations demanding reservation for the politically strong Patel community, for the first time since the beginning of the state wide demonstrations last month.

The written invitation signed by a joint secretary level officer has also been sent to five other members of the organisation. It has invited Hardik, a 21 year old leader, and his five aides Dinesh Patel, Chirag Patel, Mansukh Patel, Pratik Patel and Ketan Patel for talks with the seven ministers committee formed by the state government to resolve the issue.

Confirming the development, state health minister Mr. Nitin Patel, who heads the ministers committee, said the six have been invited for talks to be held at his Gandhinagar residence this evening.

He said, ‘we are ready to talk to everyone for the peaceful development of the state. All of us are Gujaratis and we would find a resolution together.’

Earlier, in the day Hardik had said that he had not received an invitation from the government.

The committee had not invited him for the first round of talks with the Patel representatives. The latest gesture is being seen as a last ditch effort of the government to stall the mega rally of the organisation to be held in Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, it would be interesting to see whether Hardik takes part in the talks or not. It is being said that he was holding an internal meeting with his aides to decide a course of action.
