Patidar public meet, rally conclude peacefully, hunger strike on

After addressing a big rally of Patidar community at Ahmedabad’s GMDC ground, Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti(PAAS) leader Hardik Patel from the stage asked rally participants to sit on fast at the rally venue. He said this was a historical twist he was giving to agitation and entire India’s focus would be on this ground now. He said he will also sit on the stage on fast and participants of rally should also sit on their place. He asked, can you sit here hungry for long? However those coming from distance places can leave the rally venue, he said. He said he will sit on fast until Chief Minister Anandiben Patel arrives here and accept the memorandum.

Hardik made this announcement when thousands of people were leaving the ground already and he had to make several requests to people to continue to sit.

It should be mentioned that after the public meeting the gathering was to convert into rally and march to Collector office to submit a memorandum. However Collector himself came to the venue to receive the memorandum.

Then Sardar Patel Group(SPG) president Laljibhai Patel took mike on his stage and he from the stage said that none from the leaders from this agitation movement will fight election in lifetime. He said if any of us come to your place to seek vote, then beat him with stone. He said the agitation so far was on Gandhian path but next it will proceed ahead on Anna Hazare’s path. the rally will proceed and a decision will be taken in fifteen minutes or so.

Later on demand of attendees a decision was taken to march in rally. It was also decided that leaders of this agitation will join the rally from Sardar Patel bust in Naranpura area.

The ground capacity was 3.5 lakh and it was almost full.

Update: The rally returned from Collector office without submitting memorandum to GMDC ground. Hardik Patel announced he would sit on fast on the ground with couple of supporters. He would end fast only after Chief Minister comes to the ground and assure reservation to Patidars on affidavit.
