Some high voltage drama during the Patel rally

Some ‘high voltage drama’ was also witnessed during the much hyped pro-resevation Kranti rally of the Patidar Anamat Aandolan Samiti’s (PAAS) at the GMDC ground here today.

Soon after the PAAS convener and the main face behind the agitation to press their demand of inclusion of the politically strong Patel community in the other backward class (OBC) category, Mr. Hardik Patel reached the stage a faction in the crowd started shouting.

They were the supporters of Sardar Patel Group president Lalji Patel and spokesperson P C Patel, who had participated in first round talks with the government,. They were demanding that the two leaders should also be given place on the state. Lalji Patel was later taken on the stage.

In the midst of Hardik’s over one hour speech once a large chunk of the crowd suddenly stood up and started moving when the young leader had to make repeated appeals for order.

The most unusual turn was seen in the end of his speech when he was informed about a proposed change in the whole plan for the rally.

When he was told that the collector himself was arriving there to take the memorandum and so the rally won’t take place, an agitated Hardik said, ‘ now there is a big twist (Maha-twist).’ He repeated this several times and after some consultation with his aides on the stage later revealed it to the crowd.

He refused to accept this proposal and sat on dharna immediately. Later he got up and announced over the loudspeaker that unless the chief minister herself comes there he won’t move anywhere.

However, after requests from the officials there, he stopped his dharna and announced that the rally would be taken out as per plan and marched to the collector office.
