Following the lines of Tamilnadu and Rajasthan, the Gujarat government has decided to give monthly pension to the people of the third gender (Eunuchs) in the state.
‘The government has decided to conduct a detailed survey to ascertain the number and other related information about the third gender people living in the state. Once that is done, the eligible ones from them would be given Rs. 1000 per month as pension,’ official sources said today.
In Tamilnadu the members of the eunuch community get a similar amount as monthly pension while in Rajasthan the monthly pension for them is only Rs. 500, the sources added.
