Egyptian onions in Gujarat markets

Egyptian onions are arrived in the markets of south Gujarat. They are big in size. Each piece has 300-400 gram weight. They are little blackish and spicy. Though common users are not much happy with this variety of onion, the bulk users are purchasing it.
It should be mentioned that traditionally onions are ordered from Karnatak and Nashik, but there has been 75% decrease in arrival from these places this year. Three months back, onions were available for Rs 300/kg but now prices are up at Rs 900/kg. In retain market, the prices are upto Rs 80. In such circumstances, onions are imported from Egypt via Mumbai.
