Surat

Even as Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti  (PAAS) convener Hardik Patel rejected the  educational benefit and age relaxation scheme for economically weaker section of all category announced by Gujarat Chief Minister Anandben Patel today, its supporters in Surat’s Varachha locality pelted stones at a gathering of Bharatiya Janata Party workers celebrating the new incentives.

Police lobbed over 20 teargas shells to disperse the agitating mob who started pelting stones at BJP workers, including the city mayor and municipal counselors, who were bursting firecrackers and distributing sweets to welcome the new incentives near Mangadh Chowk of the city where Hardik was arrested for taking out his Ekta yatra on September 19. Situation was later brought under control, police said.

In somewhat similar incidents the PAAS supporters opposed the celebrations of the BJP activists in Hira Bazar area of Bhavnagar and also in G B Road locality of Mahesana.

Hardik had earlier rejected the announcement saying it was like a lollipop for his community. He has also claimed to continue his pro quota agitation.
