Sekhani Group to invest Rs 150 crore to set-up a manufacturing plant in Sanand

Wonder Wings (Sekhani group) today announced their diversification plan to invest approximately Rs 150 crores in first Phase of setting up their new plant at Sanand for sanitary napkin. Wonder Wings ( Sekhani group) has as part of expansion plans acquired 1,00,000 square meters of lands in Sanand GIDC.

Wonder Wings, the sanitary napkin will be manufactured at Sanand based facility wherein 2 fully automatic servo machines will be producing 1200000 pieces of sanitary napkins per day.

Sharing more on the new business development, Mr. Prakash Sekhani, MD, said “With our new business model, we want to empower women with better health and hygiene thereby bringing a positive change in their lives with an affordable quality product. We intend to invest & add more facilities in phase wise manner with an investment of 500 Crores. Also to promote the cause of MAKE IN INDIA, we will be generating 1000+ employments. Our target is to make 800 million sanitary napkins annually. This will be groups 4th Factory in Gujarat with other 3 in the field of textile”

In future Wonder Wings also plans to setup facilities for baby diapers, adult diapers & related products which will improve hygiene in India.

The most disturbing fact in India is the poor hygienic conditions of the Indian Women. Menstruating population in India is 45 crores but only 15% of menstruating women are sanitary napkin users i.e. 6.5 cr. Currently from 1.74 crores of menstruating female population of Gujarat only 26 lacs Women use Sanitary napkin (aprx 15%). Wonder Wings has vowed to take this figure to at least 30% & hereby improve hygiene quality life of women in India. Currently they are using shocking alternatives like unsanitised cloth, ash and husk sand.

Wonder Wings (Sekhani Group) is planning to tie up with NGO’S, Government & Institutions to create awareness in Hygiene amongst the young Girls & Women by promoting the same in Schools & Colleges. Wonder Wings (Sekhani Group) will distribute complimentary sanitary napkin to 1 million girls who have never used this hygiene practice in past.
