Fiasco of Congress – PAAS bandh call in Morbi

Bandh call given by Morbi unit of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti(PAAS) and Congress aprty turned out to be a fiasco today in Morbi town of Saurashtra region in Gujarat, as it evoked zero response.

All markets were open and traffic was normal like any other day in Morbi town. Schools and colleges were open as usual.

The signs of failure of the bandh call were visible yesterday itself when none from community came to DC Naka to welcome those agitators who were released from police detention in Rajkot.It should be mentioned that local agitation leaders had circulated messages and asked Patel community people to gather at DC Naka to welcome those Patels who were released from Rajkot police detention. Another message was circulated about today’s bandh call in Morbi. Patels were asked to gather at new bus stand at 8.30 am to make the bandh call successful. However there was poor response again.

While Morbi city Congress president Mahesh Rajguru had issued a statement and appealed the people to observe bandh, PAAS committee member Sanjay Algari and others had supported the call. BJP president Raghubhai Gadara had opposed the bandh call. Morbi district police chief Rajn Sushra had deployed 200 jawans of State Reserve Police and 150 jawans of Rapid Action Force to deal with those who create nuisance. Accordingly some bandh supporters were held while trying to force shut down.
