Even as Congress leader Narendra Rawat today approached the Supreme Court demanding stay on the next month’s local body polls in Gujarat, Gujarat BJP has slammed Congress party for its attempt to delay the elections of Municipal Corporations in Gujarat.
“Till now Congress party was shouting to hold the local body elections at earliest date, but after the announcement of elections by state election commission, Congress is running away,” state BJP spokesperson Shri IK Jadeja said.
“For last 25 years, Congress party has been pushed to corner in political arena of Gujarat. Congress party is playing tricks to spoil peace and create anarchy in Gujarat. Congress party which was crying for early elections of local bodies, now when election programme has been already announced, the Congress party is running away from the field to save its prestige.”
Jadeja said district and city level coordination meetings are being held at present by BJP for selection of candidates for local body polls. Various morchas of BJP are holding ‘Khaatlaa meetings’, oratory camps and other programmes.
He said Congress party is trying to stall the election process through legal proceedings and looking for ways other than going to voters. It shows Congress’s fear.
