Governor O P Kohli will inaugurate a specialty hospital in Odhav area of the city on November 1, which with the motto of “Quality Care Affordable to All” has tied up with the famous NGO Mission Life India, that runs 108 ambulance here since 2003, for availability of cheaper medicines and health care funds from corporate groups.
Addressing a press conference here today the Medical Director of the newly built Central United Hospital (CUH) situated near the Odhav lake, Dr. Parthiv Mehta said that one of the main objective behind setting up the state of the art hospital was to provide high quality health care at affordable rates to the people of East Ahmedabad which lacks in such facilities in comparison to the Western part of the city. ’65 percent of the population of the city lives in Eastern part of the city but only 25 percent of the private hospitals were situated there. Remaining 75 % were in West Ahmedabad where only 35 percent people live. It is necessary to fill up the gap. Though the East Ahmedabad was aplenty with government run hospitals where most of such units were situated. In case of government run health units and hospitals the case was just reverse i e almost three fourth of all were in the Eastern part of the city,’ he said.
‘NGO Mission Life India will rope in CSR fund on health care for us and also mediate with the pharmaceutical companies for providing low cost drugs form diseases like cancer, tuberculosis, diabetes and others,’ he said.
“The eastern part of Ahmedabad city has witnessed a steady growth of infrastructure and industrial development in the last decade. Population density, Industrial growth and immigration from rural areas of Gujarat and other states have made a change in canvas of Eastern Ahmedabad. However, health care services here have been predominantly
under the domain of Government and Municipal Hospital inclusive of ESIS establishments. Complementing to existing Government and private establishments and providing easy access to all due to strategic location on main road with BRTS connectivity, CUH has been established. Due to its advantageous location, people from surrounding
villages of Ahmedabad and neighboring districts like Kheda, Panchmahals and Sabarkantha will also have an easy access to the facilities being offered by CUH, ” said Jiten Patel Director, Community Service of the hospital.
“The hospital will be managed by experienced team of administrators and doctors under guidance and support by reputed doctors from India and abroad as well as citizen of society as members of Board of Advisors. Protocol
for Diagnosis and Medical treatment have been offered from reputed institutes like Herman Memorial Hospital, Houston, Texas, Advanced Multi Specialty Hospital, Mumbai, BARQA, UK, American Association for Sleep Medicine and Australian Critical Case Society. Treatment for Cancers has been established with protocols from Tata Cancer Institute and Gujarat Cancer Research Institute to provide care at low cost” Dr Kaushal Gandhi, Director, Medical Services said.
