Aravalli LCB seizes Rs 1.4 crore cash from car

Modasa

Close on heels to the recovery of Rs. 2.5 crore cash from Rajdhani Express at Ahmedabad railway station, two people were nabbed in Aravallai district by the local crime branch (LCB) today with cash worth Rs 1.4 crore.

Police said that the cash was recovered from a car coming from neighbouring Rajasthan during a routine check up at Shamlaji-Vantada toll point under Modasa rural police station.

One of the nabbed person is from Ahmedabad and the second is from Palanpur. Their car has registration number of Ahmedabad. All the notes were either of Rs. 500 or Rs. 1000 denomination, police said.

The Income tax department has also been informed regarding the recovery. The nabbed duo was being interrogated.

Earlier on November 2, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) had recovered Rs. 2.5 crore from New Delhi- Ahmedabad SwarnaJayanti Rajdhani express and arrested a man in this connection at Ahmedabad railway station.

Recovery of large amount of cash at a time when local body polls in the state were around the corner has raised eyebrows.
