Requisition of 29 vehicles for 10 minute airport halt of President in Rajkot

Huge traffic jams is not the only problem common people face during President’s visit, but requisition of vehicle is also an issue.

President Dr Pranab Mukherjee arrived at Rajkot airport today, just to fly to Somnath from here. His 10-minute visit however resulted into cancellation of scheduled flights and also into requisition of 29 cars from private individuals.

To provide vehicles to officials from Gandhinagar and other staff, the district administration of Rajkot had requested RTO to requisite luxurious 8-seater cars. The RTO in response to this request requisit 29 cars and handed over them to police administration on Monday afternoon. The cars will be returned to owners in the evening today. Similar requisition process was done during Municipal Corporation election too. Travel operators were paid Rs 800/day in return.

Rashtrapati was welcomed at Rajkot airport and was given Rajkot’s famous Penda and Chikki sweets. He left for Somnath for darshan of Shri Somnath Mandir in helicopter.
