At times the reservation system turn out to be comic.
In Vapi taluka panchayat in south Gujarat BJP has won 13 out of 20 seats which is pretty well majority, but as per a notification the post of president of taluka panchayat body has to go to Schedule Tribe(tribal) lady. As none of 13 victorious candidates of BJP fit in this criteria, the post of president may go to Congress!
Similar is the scenario in Satlasna taluka panchayat where both BJP and Congress have got 7-seats each while 1 victorious candidate is independent. The post of president is reserved for Schedule Caste(SC) candidate. As Congress has no SC winner, the post of president will go to BJP.
In Rajkot, BJP’s woman candidate Sofiaben got lesser votes compared to a male candidate from Congress party in same ward, but as one seat is reserved for Other Backward Class(OBC) woman, Sofiaben has been declared a winner.
