In perhaps the first case of kite-string death in Gujarat before Uttarayan this year, a 22 year old youth died after sustaining cut injury in A-division area of Bharuch town this evening.
Police said Surendra Bhupendra Jadhav was sitting on the motorcycle which was driven by his elder brother Rakesh when he sustained deep cut in his neck by a kite string on Ayodhyanagar link road in Shravan Chowkadi area at around 6 pm. He was rushed to civil hospital where he succumbed. The deceased youth was a resident of Lahori Godam locality in the city.
Police were investigating the matter and it was being ascertained whether the kite string was China made or not.
Every year several people lose their lives in such accidents while many others get injured. Police has already banned the sale and use of China made kite strings which are held responsible for most of such accidents.
