Bail pleas of two Hardik aides rejected in sedition case

Surat
The Principal District and Session Judge of Surat Mrs Geetaben Gopi today rejected the bail pleas of two aides of Jailed Patidar quota stir leader Hardik Patel in a sedition case in which the Patidar Anamat Aandolan convener was also an accused and his bail application is to come up for hearing on February 20 in the same court.
The court rejected the bail pleas of Chirag Desai and Vipul Desia in the sedition case lodged by crime branch in Amroli police station of the district for a ‘caught on-camera’ discussion between them and the PAAS leader who allegedly suggested Vipul to kill policemen rather than committing suicide. Vipul had threatened to end his life in support of the quota stir.
Hearing on their bail pleas was completed on February 15 and the court had reserved the verdict to be pronounced today.
On February 15 Hardik’s bail application was also to be heard by the same court but owing to the absence of the Investigating Officer it was deferred till February 20.
With the rejection of the bail pleas of the two co-accused today, chances of Hardik getting bail from the same court in the matter looks bleak.
The crime branch of Surat police had on January 8 filed a 370 page charge-sheet in the case. All the three accused are lodged in Lajpore central jail here.
Another court in Ahmedabad will hear Hardik’s bail plea in yet another sedition case filed against him and his five aides on February 20. The crime branch of Ahmedabad police had on January 18 filed a 2700 page charge sheet in the case lodged for their role in the violent quota agitation.
