Rajkot

A case of attempt to murder has been lodged against unknown mob in connection with the burning of a Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation bus in Pipaliya under Jasdan police station of Rajkot district.

A mob of suspected Patidar reservation supporters or other anti government elements had set the bus on fire in Pipaliya while it was on night halt there.

Its driver Shantilal Patel, who was sleeping inside the bus along with the conductor at the time of the incident and somehow saved his life, has filed the case in jasdan police station under section 307 (attempt to murder), 435 (arson) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy).

On the other hand the plying of ST buses from Botad district has been suspended in the wake of incidents of burning and stone pelting on other corporation run buses.
Botad ST Depot manager B N Oad today said that the step has been taken to ensure the safety of the staff and passengers.

Earlier last week, Sarthana police in Surat had lodged complaint against 40 people in connection with the burning of ST bus.

The incidents are seen as part of Patidar agitation.
