Ben not likely to run for a second term beyond 2017

As mentioned earlier in one of our articles in DeshGujarat, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel is not likely to run for a second term beyond 2017.

Anandiben who is completing 75 later this year was yesterday participating in women’s MP/MLA meet in Delhi.

Outside the venue, while speaking to a group of media persons she responded to a question on her future plans like this: “I can’t go on like this in my 80s. I feel others should be given a chance, young people should come and take responsibility.”

She also said that her daughter Anar Patel was not interested in entering active politics.

As per a report in national daily, she said, “we have a very strong organisation. Our party has a presence in every block, and hence we have been winning for the past 30 years. The nagar palika election results recently were in our favour, and several of the gram panchayats and taluks are with us. Even in those we lost, we lost by one or two seats. Our elections are based only on development, and that will be our focus next year too.Congress leaders such as Shankersinh Vaghela are fatigued. “The Opposition is aggressive only in the Vidhan Sabha. We are focused on our delivery.”

On Patidar agitation she said: “The Opposition is aggressive only in the Vidhan Sabha. We are focused on our delivery. He started alone with a few friends.
Congress started supporting him seriously later. All arrangements of his yatra now are done by Congress.Hardik’s release from jail has to be decided by the court. They have evidence against him, so do we. Even people who supported him wholeheartedly earlier now say it was a mistake to have done so.”

She said she has had the constant guidence of both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah in this matter.
