Anymore suicide and I will withdraw from quota stir: Hardik

Surat

Jailed Patidar quota stir leader Hardik Patel has warned that he would withdraw himself form the reservation agitation if the youths of the community commit suicide in support of the movement anymore.

In the hand-written letter dated March 8, which was seized by the police from a bag he was trying to hand over to an unknown person the same day outside Lajpore jail here and which is now in circulation over social media, Hardik has termed the act of suicide by Patel youths as ‘cowardice’.

He has written in the letter addressed to media that his agitation which was not only in the interest of his community but the society in general needed youth’s support and not cowardice acts like suicide.

‘We have a long history of fighting against injustice and oppression but we are not for committing such cowardice act. If it happens anymore then I will withdraw (sit) from the agitation. Our organization is fighting for social and political change as a reaction and not as an action ,’ his letter said which also has the reference to 27 point demand of the PAAS letter from the state government to end the stir.

The letter was written at a time when a man in Jetalsar had recently committed suicide in support of the agitation. This was third such act in last few months. Earlier a man in Rajkot and another in Dhoraji had ended life for similar reasons.
