Another jolt to Hardik, Surat court also rejects bail plea in sedition case

Surat

The court of Principal District and Sessions Judge of Surat, Mrs. Geetaben Gopi today rejected the regular bail plea of jailed Patidar quota stir leader Hardik Patel in the sensational sedition case lodged by the crime branch in Amroli police station in October last year for his instigating suggestion to a supporter to kill policemen rather than committing suicide.

While rejecting the bail plea the court in its order also observed that the Patidar Anamat Aandolan Samiti (PAAS) leader’s behaviour inside the jail (judicial custody) was also not good.

Another jolt to Hardik, Surat court also rejects bail plea in sedition case

The same court had earlier rejected the bail plea of the remaining two accused Vipul Desai (whom Hardik had given the disputed suggestion) and Chirag Desia, in the case.

Hardik’s advocate Yashvant Vala had in the bail plea among other points also put forth the point of Delhi High Court’s bail to JNU student leader Kanahiya in a sedition case but the court which has completed the hearing yesterday and had reserved its order to be pronounced today did not consider it.

The Crime Branch of Surat police had filed a 370 page charge-sheet in the case on january 8. Hardik is lodged in Lajpore central jail of Surat and was recently in lime light for wrong reasons (recovery of mobile phones near his barrack and battery and charger from his possesion)

Today’s decision is second jolt to Hardik this month as another court in Ahmedabad had on March 8 also rejected his bail plea in yet another case of sedition filed by crime branch against him and five others there for their role in the violent stir. He had moved high court against that order by the ADJ N G Dave.

Hardik’s counsel in Surat Mr. Vala said that the court order will also be challenged in the High Court.
