BJP MP from Porbandar Vitthal Radadiya, who had met jailed quota stir leader Hardik Patel twice in Surat jail as government backed negotiator a few weeks ago, today had another such meeting with the Patidar Anamat Aandolan Samiti (PAAS) convener in the jail as part of the government exercise to expedite the resolution process of the over nine month old reservation stir of the community.
Mr. Radadiya met Hardik, who is lodged in the Lajpore central jail here following his arrest in a sedition case since October last year, for the third time today with some Patidar leaders, however, Sardar Patel Group president Lalji Patel, who had a secret meeting with former chief minister Keshubhai Patel yesterday, did not turn up.
Talking to newsmen after the meeting, the BJP MP said that he apprised Hardik about the development and the government’s stand on the 27 demands put forth by him.
He reiterated that a solution to the issue will be reached soon as both the government and Patidars are moving ahead with a positive frame of mind.
He had met Chief Minister Mrs Anandiben Patel in Gandhinagar before coming here today.
To a query regarding Lalji Patel’s absence, he said that the SPG leader told him that he was not well. Mr. Radadiya had yesterday claimed that he would take the SPG leader to Surat to remain present during his meet with Hardik. However talking to a section of media Lalji Patel, who has threatened to launch a jail bharo agitation from Mahesana on April 17 to protest the government stance, had expressed his unwillingness to join Mr. Radadiya’s bandwagon.
Meanwhile in a related development a body of Patidar community, Patidar Sangh today announced to organize a one day symbolic fast of 500 leaders of the community here on April 13 if the government do not accept the 17 demands of Hardik Patel including the release of all the jailed agitators and withdrawal of agitation related cases.
