A large amount of Ganja (a form of cannabis used for smoking ) was recovered from the toilet of a long distance train at Surat railway station today.
A little over 287 kilogram of the intoxicating grass stuffed in 10 sacks was found in the toilet of a general coach of the Ahmedabad bound 12843 Puri Express.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) started search in the train on the basis of a tip off. The Ganja was soon recovered but those carrying if slipped away.
We keep a vigil in trains coming from the eastern states for nabbing the smugglers of Ganja. We had a tip off about the grass which would cost over 17 lakhs,’ a RPF official said adding that efforts were on to nab the carrier/carriers who must have fled seeing the police.
