Leader of Opposition in Gujarat Assembly and former Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela in a statement issued here raised several questions pertaining to Patidar agitation and and today’s incidents in Mahesana.
Making appeal for peace, Shankersinh said ‘Jail Bharo’ agitation was announced publicly. It was not sudden development. If agitators wanted to go go jail, government could arrange grounds where 50-60,000 agitators could be contained. Permission not-granted was technical issue which could be put aside.
Vaghela said ruling BJP government must clear its stand on reservation and on Economic Backward Class quota. Whether it wants to grant quota to Patidar community or not should be made clear. Congress’s policy is clear in this regard that existing 49% quota will stay untouched and 20% additional quota will be granted on the basis of economic backwardness.
