BJP vice president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, general secretary Ram Madhav and former Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Modi are in contention of Rajya Sabha berths from BJP, party sources said.
Elections to 57 Rajya Sabha seats are scheduled for June 11 and the last date of filing nomination is May 31.
Sahasrabuddhe is in charge of a party-affiliated think tank while Madhav is credited with playing a key role in the party’s electoral success first in Jammu and Kashmir and recently in Assam assembly polls.
Madhav is also a former RSS spokesperson.
Sources said Sushil Modi is also being discussed as a probable candidate and his administrative experience and clean image are seen as positives.
They said all the ministers, including M Venkaiah Naidu, Piyush Goyal, Nirmala Sitharaman, Birender Singh and Suresh Prabhu, are virtually certain to get renomination.
