In the incident of yet another death of an Asiatic lion of Gir, the body of a lion was recovered from a farm on the outskirts of Bodhva village in Kodinar taluka of Gir Somnath district.

RFO A K Dodiya said that the body of around 8 to 9 year old male lion was found lying in a farm.

‘The body of the beast was recovered on the intimation of the farm owner. Prima facie it seems that it had died 2 to 3 days ago owing to hot weather. The exact reason would be known only after post mortem,’ he said.

Notably, over a dozen Asiatic lions in and around Gir forests, the sole abode of such lions, have died in past few months.
