Permission of 18 cattle camps are canceled by Kutch district administration.
Government gives Rs 25/day/cattle subsidy to cattle camps in scarcity-hit areas. Some organizers of cattle camps show higher number of cattle to get more subsidy money. After probe by district administration, permission of 18 cattle camps are canceled.
There’s a rule that if particular organization is caught showing bogus number of cattle, then permission of all cattle camps run by that organization are canceled.
District administration conducted probe into functioning of cattle camps after a clerk from collector office was caught receiving Rs 4,000 bribe in exchange of granting permission to cattle camp.
As soon as this incident came to light, district collector abolished the decentralized system of permission and took power of granting permission in his own hand.
