All villages and towns of Rajkot district to get Narmada water

Narmada waters will reach all villages and towns of Rajkot district. Connectivity of Narmada pipe line will be given to 156 villages of Jetpur, Dhoraji, Upleta and Jamkandorna taluka’s 156 villages and 5 towns. Stone laying function for this Rs 596 crore Navda-Upleta pipeline project will be held on 18 June at Jamkandorna in presence of state Chief Minister.

According to a note released by state government, Rajkot district’s all villages and towns are connected to Narmada pipeline under Narmada master plan through a bulk pipeline between Navda and Upleta. Jetpur, Dhoraji, Upleta, Jamkandorna taluka’s 156 villages and Jetpur, Jamkandorna, Dhoraji, Upleta and Bhayavadar towns will be connected to Narmada network. The present need of water is 79 MLD but planning has been done considering the likely needs in year 2041.

1500-1025 mm and 700-800 mm diameter bulk pipeline works will be done under this project in length of 171.50 km along with increased pumping machinery capacity at 3 places and new pumping station installments at another 3 places.

Under Narmada master plan, so far 2727 km bulk pipeline statewide water supply grid works are completed. Moreover pipe laying works from Dharai to Khirsara, Jetpur, Dhoraji, Upleta taluka villages and five towns are planned. At this stage pipeline will be laid from Botad to Gadhda, Chavad to Chamardi to Dhoraji and Upleta and Amarnagar to Vadiya in this network.
