July 13, 2016
Gandhinagar: Gujarat government has taken a decision to declare Malaria and Dengue as notifiable diseases. This decision has been taken as per central government’s guideline.
According to Health minister Shri Nitin Patel, the State government has taken this decision to get quick information on details of patients and speedy actions.
“So far details of patients of these diseases were available only from government hospitals. Due to lack of information regarding private clinics, the government was not able to take actions to control the diseases. With implementation of this new decision, details of malaria and dengue patients, such as name of the patients and their locations will be available from private clinics and hospitals. With such details in hand, health officers will be able to take preventive actions at affected locations,” Nitinbhai further said.
He said, “all hospitals and clinics will have to pass on the details of daily registered cases to related district or municipal corporation office. If such cases are not declared, the clinic/hospital will attract action by local authority.”
