GSPC, Gujarat Gas, Adani Gas bills can be paid now through Jio Money in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Consumers of GSPC Gas, Gujarat Gas, and Adani Gas can now pay their gas bills using Jio Money. With Gujarat accounting for over 46% of India’s homes connected with natural gas pipelines, this will help consumers in the state use the mobile app to pay their bills with the convenience of Jio Money. Already, the app is being used by households in Delhi and Mumbai to pay gas bills to Indraprastha Gas and Mahanagar Gas, respectively.
Jio Money is an application, which any smartphone user can install and use to make secure payment to anyone, anywhere and at any time with just a few taps. According to Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board, India had 2.75 million households connected with natural gas pipelines, of which 1.28 million are in Gujarat. The piped natural gas has already done away with the hassle of booking LPG cylinders and waiting for their delivery. Now these consumers of piped gas in Gujarat also have the simplest payment option for their monthly bills.
What keeps Jio Money a step ahead is that it works with thousands of different vendors – online as well as over the counter – including all formats of Reliance Retail. This means the user derives more utility from the single payment gateway, which is free to use. Reliance Industries has recently formed a joint venture with State Bank of India to set up a Payments Bank, as approved by the Reserve Bank of India. Once it becomes functional, Jio Money customers will be able to enjoy wider array of banking services.
In India over 95% of retail payments are made in cash. “Evidence from developed markets show that mass adoption of digital payment solutions have significant positive impacts on the economy, RIL chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani told shareholders at the last AGM. “It brings better transparency, improves financial inclusion, facilitates merchant business and drives growth of trade and commerce.”
Consumers can use Jio Money to pay for several services such as electricity, telephone, cable, insurance premiums and cinema tickets. “Soon Jio Money will be accepted by thousands of physical stores and shops across India,” the company states on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
