Ahmedabad: With the weakening of yesterday’s deep depression over north-west Madhya Pradesh and neighbourbood, the met department today said that there won’t be any heavy rain in Gujarat in next few days.
However in a modest revival of the monsoon in last 24 hours, 108 talukas of 21 districts (of total 33) saw some amount of rains with Jhalod in Dahod district of central Gujarat recording the maximum of 59 mm.
Ahmedabad has also seen light to moderate rains which continued in some parts even today. the city has so far witnessed over 10 mm of rains.
Meanwhile owing to heavy rains in the upstream area of the Mahi river in neighbouring Rajasthan and release of over 4 lakh cusec of water from Bajaj Sagar Dam on the river situated 16 kilometers from Banswara town in Banswara district of Rajasthan, water level in Mahi and Kadana dam reservoir built on the same river in Mahisagar district of central Gujarat has surged.
Consequently over 4 lakh cubic meter per second of water has been released from Kadana. Several villages in the adjoining downstream areas have been alerted.
Owing to surge in water level of Mahi river at least three bridges on it in Central Gujarat have seen water flow over them. Tatroli, Hadod and Galteshwar bridges on the river have submerged leading to temporary suspension of traffic over them.
However, the met department today said that there will mostly be light to moderate rain activities in the next few days in Gujarat as the yesterday’s deep depression over North-West MP and neighbourhood has weaken in to a low pressure area over east Rajasthan and adjoining west Madhya Pradesh with associated upper air cyclonic circulation.
The temperatures across Gujarat has become quite moderate with most places including Ahmedabad seeing around 26 to 33 degree Celsius on the mercury scale. Cloudy weather in most parts has made weather pleasant.
