Former MoS Home in Gujarat Praful Patel appointed administrator of Daman & Diu

Ahmedabad: Former minister of state for Home, Gujarat state Praful Patel has been appointed as Administrator of Daman and Diu.
Daman and Diu is union territory located in proximity to Gujarat. The appointment of Patel has been made by the President of India as per Clause (1) of Article 239 of the constitution.
Union territories come under union Home ministry.
Patel was MLA of Himmatnagar in North Gujarat. He was picked up as MoS Home after Amit Shah by then Chief Minister of Gujarat and present Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
Patel lost last assembly election on Himmatnagar seat against rival Congress candidate.
