60 commandos from Gujarat Marine Police to undergo Indian Navy training

Gandhinagar: Gujarat has the longest coast among all coastal states of India. For the first time in the country the Indian Navy will train marine commandos of Gujarat police. 60 commandos are selected for this training module. Gujarat government had sent proposal to centre for training to Gujarat police marine task commandos through Indian Navy. The central government has approved this proposal, as part of which 60 commandos of Gujarat police are to undergo 3 week comprehensive training capsule training at Chilka(Odisha) and Kochi(Kerala) in first phase during 29 August and 21 September. Gujarat has become first state to create Amphibious Force out of its police force. Gujarat government had set up Marine Task Force in year 2009-10. Gujarat has at present 22 marine police stations. At present here are 350 marine commandos in Gujarat.
