Environment ministry nod to Girnar mountain ropeway project

Junagadh: Private firm Usha Breco Ltd which operates ropeway service at Ambaji Gabbar and Pavagadh hill in Gujarat and assigned task to erect ropeway service at Girnar mountain has today formally made an announcement that Aerial passenger ropeway project at Mount Girnar in District Junagadh has been accorded with environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India.
A public notice advertisement by Usha Breco further informs that the copies of the clearance letters are available with the Gujarat Pollution Control Board(GPCB) and can be seen on their website www.gpcb.gov.in and also at http://envfor.nic.in.

It should be mentioned that the ropeway project is pending for last many years due to pending environmental permissions. Girnar is tallest mountain in existing political map of Gujarat state. Every year lakhs of pilgrims reach to the top of this mountain throgh steps and ‘dolis’. Ambaji and Gorakhnath are some of the temples situated at the top of this mountain.
According to local BJP circles, works for the project are likely to start within three-four months.
