No cash salary to government employees in Gujarat
November 30, 2016
Gandhinagar: Amid the ongoing cash-crunch caused by demonetization, the Gujarat government today made it clear that the salaries of its employees for the month of November will be deposited in the bank accounts as usual.
Deputy Chief Minister, Nitin Patel, who is also in-charge of the finance department, told newsmen here today that cash payment to lakhs of government employees right from the cities to small villages needs a major exercise.
‘The government evaluated this option in the current situation and decided that the salaries for November will be deposited in the bank accounts as usual,’ he said.
The government’s announcement has come at a time when government employees were expecting at least part payment of their salaries in cash to spare them from the hardship of joining the long queues near Banks/ATM’s for withdrawal of money.
