13,860 crore IDS declaration: Congress demands CBI probe
December 06, 2016
Ahmedabad: Congress today demanded a CBI probe in to the disputed declaration of Rs 13860 crore under IDS scheme by Ahmedabad realtor Mahesh Shah.
Addressing a joint press conference here along with leader of opposition in the state assembly Shankersinh Vaghela, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee president Bharatsinh Solanki said that only a CBI probe can clear the air of mystery around the declaration.
‘The matter should be probed by CBI. Its investigation should not be given to any committee as such committees have been proved futile during the current BJP regime,’ he said.
The former union minister also alleged that the BJP regime was trying to save Shah.’The realtor had claimed in his interview soon before his being nabbed by the police on December 3 from a TV channel studio here that he would reveal the names of those whose money he had declared in his name to the IT officials but so far despite hours long interrogation nothing has come out. Yet he was given time by the IT to have rest and go home. The BJP government is trying to save him.
Notably Shah defaulted after the last-minute sensational declaration as he failed to pay the first installment of around Rs 1500 crore of the total tax of over Rs 6000 crore within stipulated time frame. He said that the money was not his own and he failed to pay the tax because of the last minute ‘ditching’ by those whose money he had declared in his name to earn some money as launderer.
