Girl hit by bullet during celebratory firing during marriage procession in Botad

Botad: A 19 year old girl was injured in an incident of celebratory firing during a marriage ceremony in Bodad district of Gujarat today.

Police sources said that two daughters of Shivrajbhai, a resident of Pipardi village under Botad taluka, got married on the same day today.

‘While the two marriage processions were taken out this afternoon and the ritual of Varghoda being performed, some one opened fire to celebrate the occasion. Suddenly one of the bullets hit Guniben Mithapara,’ an onlooker said.

The girl with bullet injury near one eye was taken to a private hospital in Botad from where she was referred to Bhavnagar.

Interestingly, the local police has not received any formal complaint in this regard so far.
