Mention of quota provision for divyangs must in govt job ads: Gujarat High Court
December 22, 2016
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court today ordered the state government and its recruiting agencies to make it a must to mention about the provision of 3% reservation to the people of physically challenged (divyang) category in its jobs during all such future advertisements.
The division bench of Chief Justice R Subash Reddy and Justice V M Pacholi issued the order on a PIL filed by advocate K R Koshti, who had raised objection about non-mention of the provision in such job advertisements.
The court instructed the government and its recruiting agencies like Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board, Gujarat Panchayat Services Selection Board and GPSC to make the mention mandatory in the job ads.
Notably The Persons With Disabilities Act provides for three per cent quota for the physically challenged or differently-abled people.
