Met dept issues cold wave warning for parts of Kutch for next 48 hours

Ahmedabad: Even as most parts of Gujarat are yet to experience ‘the real onset of winter’ despite some places witnessing single digit minimum temperatures in the last 24 hours, the met department today issued warning of ‘cold wave’ in the isolated pockets of Kutch for the next 48 hours.

The met bulletin issued today said that Cold wave conditions were very likely at isolated pockets over Kutch in the next 48 hours. However there will be no cold wave in the other regions of the state though there might be some dip in the mercury especially during night and early morning. The weather will remain dry.

Naliya with 7.8 degree Celsius of minimum temperature remained coldest in the last 24 hours. Gandhinagar saw a minimum of 9 degree C. However Ahmedabad was warmer at 14.2 which was 1.3 degree above normal. The maximum temperature in the city was 27.6 degree C.

The bulletin says that northwesterly winds were prevailing at lower level in the state. It is understood that the snowfall in northern states and the wind were reason for cold wave like condition in part of Kutch in the coming 48 hours, however the bulletin has not attributed any reason for it.

The maximum and minimum temp at several places across Gujarat during last 24 hours was recorded as following-
