Showrooms in Gujarat to deliver new vehicles fitted with HSRP number plate from today
January 01, 2017
Gandhinagar: From today onwards in Gujarat, vehicle showrooms will need to give delivery of new vehicle only with high security number plate(HSRP) fitted to it. There are total 1500 dealers of vehicles across Gujarat, of which 207 dealers are given deemed RTO powers. After payment of prescribed fees HSRP number plate will be fitted at such deemed RTO facilities.
Suppose if some customer wants to visit RTO by himself in order to get registration or number plate, in such case dealer will not be able to enforce him to choose deemed RTO. Charges associated to plate fixing will have to be declared in proper readable notice board. Transport Commissioner has interconnected Adhar card, online payment and number auto generation vehicle software.
At present the RTO office charges Rs 410 for fitment of number plate, however at deemed RTO, the customer will need to pay Rs 710 for car. Against RTO charge of Rs 140 for two-wheeler HSRP number plate, the deemed RTO facility will take Rs 390. However 50% of this additional charge will go to RTO.
Under the one-day governance scheme, dealer will need to hand over RC book, registration and HSRP number plate on same day of vehicle delivery. However this will be only possible if RTO walks in matching speed with dealers because RC book has to be issued by RTO.
