Gujarat govt, State BJP challenge Shankersinh to make CDs claimed by him public
February 14, 2017
Gandhinagar: Reacting to leader of opposition Shankersinh Vaghela’s remark that Kutch has become a sex hub, Gujarat BJP spokesperson Bharat Pandya said, the leader of opposition has crossed limit of limits by making such remarks. Congress has tried to defame Gujarat, Gujarat’s Asmita and Sanskarita by comparing Kutch and Gujarat with such derogatory words. Such a low level statement is insult of Gujarat. BJP and Gujarat will never tolerate this.
Reacting to Shankersinh’s another statement that he has CDs of around dozen, BJP spokesperson Bharat Pandya threw challenge that if Shankersinh has any evidence, he should announce that. Pandya said, “Congress only attempts to spread false allegations and spreads rumors. Congress leaders in order to find place in media, spread political falsehoods and disturb the atmosphere of unity, peace and development in Gujarat try to mislead the people. The people of Gujarat will never allow to succeed the attempts of Congress party to spread rumors, disturbance and anarchy.”
It should be mentioned here that Shankersinh had claimed he has “one dozen” names of people who are involved in the Naliya gangrape case, along with “their CD”.
Shankersinh had made these statements during his press conference today in capital Gandhinagar as leader of opposition in assembly in connection with Naliya alleged rape case in which some town/district level suspended BJP cadres are found involved and arrested.
Clarifying party’s stand on Naliya again, Pandya said: the incident in Naliya is very shameful and Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani has taken strong actions. Barring one all other accused are caught. 12-14 days remand also are granted. The government is willing to see that no-one involved is spared. The BJP government is constantly active to ensure stringent punishment to accused but Congress has dragged the event in political controversy and tried to give it political color which is condemnable. Congress has no positive issues and therefore it tries to create controversies and animosity. People of Gujarat are well aware about this.
Meanwhile political pundits point out that Shankersinh’s sex CD remark may have something to do with his rival-within-party’s alleged sex CD that had emerged just ahead of Gujarat assembly general election season in year 2007. Shankersinh wants to provoke BJP so that it may in counter attack recall and mention Shankersinhs’ rival within party’s name in connection with sex CD featuring him that had emerged just before year 2007 Gujarat assembly polls. It is well known that Shankersinh wants to be declared as Chief Ministerial candidate of Congress party in year 2017 assembly elections. Shankersinh’s team has launched a Facebook page too in this connection. But state party president Bharatsinh Solanki is his rival within the party when it comes to chief ministerial position. Recently a group of Thakor Kshatriya leaders in North Gujarat met and declared that Bharatsinh who belongs to Thakor Kshatriya class should become Chief Minister if Congress is elected to power.
Shankersinh generally holds press conference once every week in his office which has been allotted by the government as he is the leader of opposition in Gujarat assembly. Shankersinh issues highest possible level of acidic statements against the Gujarat government, state BJP and many times against Prime Minister Modi. While local print media takes note of his statement routinely, not more people or even political opponents take his remarks seriously. However today Shankersinh made specific allegation and therefore he was noticed and countered by the government as well as state BJP. If he doesn’t accept the challenge thrown by state BJP spokesperson and deputy chief minister to make those CDs public in order to prove his claim, Shankersinh will face further credibility loss. His mist intense remarks and allegations will also fail to make any impact in that situation.
