Timer fitted bomb found in residential area in Rajkot, diffused

Rajkot: Police in Rajkot city of Gujarat today recovered and diffused a timer devise fitted bomb (explosive) from the road-side of a residential area under Malviyanagr police station.

PI of Malviyanagar Solanko said that an information about a bomb lying in the area close to 150 ft ring road and Mavadi chowk was received over phone in police control room.

Soon after that the police and bomb disposal squad reached the spot and found a bomb kept in box on the road-side.

‘It was made up of two gelatin sticks, a battery, a timer and other things. The area was cordoned off and the bomb was diffused safely,’ the PI said.

The matter was being investigated and police was trying to nab the one who had put the bomb at a public place.

The bomb if exploded could have done considerable damage, a police official said.
