Gujarat Congress announces ‘Beti Bachao Yatra’ from Naliya, Vidhansabha gherao

Ahmedabad: Following is Gujarat Congress statement issued today from Ahmedabad in full text:

It is apparent that ‘Law and Order’ is losing its hold in Gujarat under dictatorial rule of BJP. Day by day, Incidents are coming into the light degrading the legacy of Law and Order in the state. A joint press conference was addressed by GPCC President Shri Bharatsinh Solanki, CLP leader Shri Shankersinh Vaghela and Ex-PCC president Shri Sidhdharthbhai Patel on February 16, 2017 at GPCC scorning worsen conditions of Gujarat and women safety.

Addressing the conference, GPCC President Shri Bharatsinh Solanki reminded of disgraceful incidents that took place under the BJP government that vaunts of campaigns like ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’.

• Rape on a Dalit woman by a BJP leader in Surendranagr’s Patadi

• Naliya Rape Scandal

The case of Naliya is an eye opening case not only for Gujarat but for whole the nation. It has left the claims of women safety under question once again. BJP carried an organized and well planned scandal. Solanki urged that the probe into the case by sitting judge of HC can lead the roots of the scandal to Gandhinagar and even to Delhi as well. BJP has left no stones unturned to mute the matter and burry it in oblivion. Solanki charged BJP saying that it is the real face of BJP coming out now. Congress is determined to perform its duty of saving women. He declared that a Three-Day rally will be organized from 18th to 20th February, 2017 from Naliya to Gandhinagar. The rally will do ‘Assembly Gherao’ on February 20, 2017 after reaching Gandhinagar.

CLP leader, Shri Shankershinh Vaghela addressing the conference told that a delegation lead by Shri Bharatsinh Solanki will hand over a memorandum to the governor at 3.00 PM tomorrow requesting him to tell the government to seek probe by sitting judge of HC into the case of Naliya. Anna Hajare and Baba Ramdev lit candles to protest and sympathize in such cases earlier. They should give voice to this disgraceful incident of Gujarat. PM and Amit Shah declare in UP that sisters in UP are not safe. What is the condition in Gujarat then? The way Police department is misused by BJP government, public is carrying negative impressions of it. Ultimately it has degraded the fame of BJP government. We will carry out the rally lauding these matters that have hurt the people of Gujarat and their dignity, said Vaghela. He added that alongside three of them, Ex-PCC president Shri Arjunbhai Modhwadia and AICC Spokesperson Shri Shaktisinh Gohil will join the rally with party workers.

Ex-PCC President, Shri Sidhdharthbhai Patel told the incident of Naliya sacndal not only a sad one but shameful and vile act. It denotes more disgrace as it had happened during BJP’s Prashikshan Shibir. What can be more shameful than the fact that BJP that talks of ‘Beti Bachao’ has failed to safeguard women in the state? The incident has laid the real face of BJP open to the public. Instead of honoring the women, BJP has exploited them. Patel demanded that the truth behind the Naliya case must come out to the public and involved BJP leaders must be punished.
