Fire in plot adjoining ship breaking yard in Alang

Bhavnagar: A fire today broke out in area adjoining famous ship breaking yard in Alang town of Bhavnagar district in Gujarat.

Police said that the fire broke out at around 1 pm in plot number 1600 close to ship breaking yard owned by an old goods shop owner Firoz.

‘Prime facie the fire spread during the burning of old batteries. The fire has been controlled and the tune of loss is not yet known. However no loss of life has been reported in the incident, in-charge PSI of Alang D J Sosa said.

Meanwhile another fire in a dyeing mill in Ankaleshwar GIDC area of Bharuch district has also been controlled. The fire in Poonam Dyeing mill had broken out last evening owing to suspected short circuit. No loss of life has been reported in the incident which has reportedly caused extensive damage to the mill’s property, equipment, product and raw material.
