A person attempts to slap Rutvij Patel during Mahesana procession

Mahesana: Gujarat BJP is taking Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha(BJYM), Gujarat unit’s new president Rutvij Patel to various places populated by Patels. Rutvij Patel was today rallied in Mahesana town in north Gujarat. Large number of BJYM cadre was present with Rutvij.

Some token protest by the section of Congress, Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti or Sardar Patel Group was expected during the rally. One person visibly in late 20s and wearing pink shirt attempted to slap Rutvij Patel during rally when it was passing through Modhera cross roads. He was caught by BJYM workers. Before he could be thrashed by BJP cadre, he was taken away by police.

Rutvij Patel in his quick reaction said the goons hired by Congress do such attempts, but Patel community is strongly allied to him. Rutvij was happy with response his rally achieved today.

However Sardar Patel Group, led by Lalji Patel claimed the responsibility of the attack attempt. At least ten persons, including Sardar Patel Group(SPG) leader Lalji Patel were detained by the city police ahead of Rutvij Patel’s procession and rally.

It should be noted that earlier Rutvij’s similar rally procession in Surat was attacked by someone belonging to opponent fold with eggs.

Gujarat BJP last month made Rutvij Patel new president of BJYM state unit replacing Pradipsinh Vaghela.

Rutvij is doctor. He is from Viramgam. Party is positioning him against 22-year old Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti(PAAS) leader Hardik Patel in order to reply Hardik Patel at this level.
