Moderate jolt of earthquake with intensity of 4 felt in Kutch, no damage reported

Bhuj: A moderate jolt of earthquake, with intensity 4 at the Richter scale, was felt in Kutch district of Gujarat, in the wee hours today however no loss of life or property has been reported.

This year so far in all over 70 tremors have been felt in Gujarat most of which were centered close to Kutch/Saurashtra but only three of them including today’s one with epicenter 17 km West South-west from Rapar, were above or equal to 4 in intensity.

The Institute of Seismological Research in Gandhinagar said that altogether 4 tremors were felt in Kutch today but the other three were quite low in intensity. The one with intensity 4 was felt in the wee hours at 0245 am while most of the people were asleep.

The strongest jolt of 4.7 intensity this year was felt in this seismically sensitive zone on January 9 while the other one above four (4.1) was recorded on January 6.
